After a period of turbulent governance, new committee members were elected in an extraordinary public Annual General Meeting in 2017. The structure, timing and agenda of that meeting was guided by professional legal advice as well as the constitution of the society. None of the previous officers chose to be present at that meeting so the committee comprised entirely new members voted in by the Friends of Harmers Wood and other members of the public present at the meeting. The positions of officers were also determined at that meeting. The appropriate officers' names have been entered on databases at Company's House and with the Charity Commision. Since 2017 various members have left the committee which left only four managing Harmers Wood.
On July 31st 2025 an Annual General Meeting was held at Helsby Community Centre where new trustees/directors were elected.
